Strategy of the Day | Colored Overlays
“Provide me with a colored overlay so I can separate the text and focus on what I am supposed to be reading.”
Best for: Students who strain to maintain focus during reading activities. Some might experience sensitivity to light or fatigue while reading.
Intervention details: It is important to determine the best color as each student is different. Be sure to provide all teachers and parents with the overlay so intervention is consistent. Overlays can also be made out of colored cellophane wrap.
Desired results: Improved reading fluency and greater ability to maintain focus while working through a text. A secondary result should be increased comprehension.
