Strategy of the Day | Smartphones for Homework Assignments
“Let me use my cell phone to take a picture of homework assignments, images, or notes from class so I have easy access to them.”
Best for: Students who have trouble copying a lot of notes in a short period of time. Students who have trouble remembering.
Intervention details: Provide a specific time each class where students are allowed to capture the notes that they need. Provide a backup hard-copy of the homework and notes the first few times in case the picture isn’t sufficient. Remind students to get close enough so the image is large enough to read. If a student doesn’t have a smartphone, allow another student to email the picture to them.
Desired results: Students take ownership of their assignments. Rate of homework completion increases.
